Peru: The First Lady of Peru, Eliane Karp de Toledo, and the Minister of Health, Fernando Ignacio Carbone Campoverde, inaugurated in Chimbote a state-of-the-art trauma room set up by MASHAV experts. The trauma room, donated by the State of Israel, is located at the Eleazar Guzman Barron Hospital in Chimbote, which offers medical services to the underprivileged population of the area. Earlier this year, Israel, through MASHAV, upgraded the dialysis unit in the Lima Medical Center, including the donation of 3 dialysis machines. Mauritania: Construction of the Cancer Treatment Center in Nouakchott is almost finished. The project, when completed, will include donation of the facility and all necessary medical technology as well as extensive training for staff members. Ethiopia: Medications were delivered to victims of the severe drought. Palau: A diving expert from Israel trained local people in clinical diving problems and protocols of medical support for divers. Ghana: A trauma center at the Komfo Anokye Medical Center in Kumasi was constructed and equipped and local staff was trained by MASHAV experts. Costa Rica: A trauma unit was constructed and equipped and local staff trained in Cartago. El Salvador: A dialysis unit was constructed and equipped and local staff trained in Santa Ana. Uzbekistan and the Marshall Islands: Eye camps took place where Israeli ophthalmologists examine and treat hundreds of people and operate on scores, restoring sight. |
