MASHAV is the body responsible for coordinating the State of Israel’s official humanitarian assistance program. Drawing on Israel’s vast experience in crisis response and field medicine, we rapidly organize and dispatch much needed supplies, medicines and urgent medical assistance in response to requests from affected countries, with the goal of supporting communities in distress by covering basic needs, in many cases in close cooperation with Israel’s diplomatic missions in the field.
The war between Russia and Ukraine created an acute humanitarian crisis resulting in massive waves of refugees and displaced people, damage to infrastructure, lack of food and water, severe injuries and illnesses, and trauma situations. Already from the first days of the war, the Director-General of Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs instructed MASHAV to build an immediate aid package for the people of Ukraine.
