Since its establishment in 1958, MASHAV has been active in 140 countries worldwide, directly training more than 350,000 men and women in a wide variety of fields. MASHAV believes that history calls upon us all to join hands and bring change, hope and opportunity to every single human being. This has been, and continues to be, the backbone of the State of Israel's international development cooperation. As we present our development cooperation activities, we strongly believe that the SDGs 2030 Agenda continues to be the catalyst for creating fruitful development partnerships for the benefit of those who need it most.
Every year, MASHAV implements a broad agenda, combining hybrid methods including vast fieldwork, survey missions, on the spot training abroad and courses in Israel, alongside rich online capacity-building activities. Working together with our partners, we engage in dialogues, send and host missions and delegations, promote a wide range of development goals, while, at the same time, offering significant humanitarian assistance across the globe.

The State of Israel, through MASHAV, shares the global responsibility of striving to achieve worldwide sustainable development and social equity towards building an inclusive, sustainable and resilient future for people and planet, with a strong emphasis on leaving no one behind. In alignment with the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, MASHAV addresses challenges by implementing an integrated inclusive approach that combines all the components of development assistance, including economic growth, gender equality, community resilience, promoting innovative approaches facing the implications of climate change.
We believe that solutions to development challenges lie in the human resource; therefore, we focus the lion share of our activities to human capacity building, sharing Israel’s own investment in human capital experience and expertise with other countries, as well as our adaptable, visionary technologies and tested methodologies. Following a ‘training of trainers’ approach, we encourage professionals from partner countries to explore and offer their own solutions to development issues and transform them to the reality of their countries’ own specific needs and potential.

Water is a basic and vital product for the individual and for meeting the needs of the economy. Based on the knowledge accumulated in Israel over decades of confronting difficulties posed by harsh climatic conditions and a shortage of water resources, MASHAV is committed to share best water management practices to increase access and availability to water especially in rural areas, integrating a gender-based perspective with the overall goal of ending poverty in all its forms while leaving no one behind.

The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint set by the international community to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. Sharing the goals set by the international community, and in alignment with the 2030 Agenda, MASHAV’s capacity building programs is set to achieve the universal goal of leaving no one behind.
