Last month, MASHAV experts and the World Food Programme conducted two targeted agricultural training programs in Nakuru and Nyandarua Counties, Kenya, as part of the WFP initiative “From Farm to Market”.
These sessions brought together 56 agronomists, farmers, Ministry of Agriculture representatives, and local government officials to explore practical strategies for drought resilience, soil fertility, irrigation efficiency, and post-harvest management.
The first training in Nakuru County addressed water conservation and soil fertility strategies, equipping participants with methods to extend cultivation periods despite seasonal rainfall challenges. The second training in Nyandarua County introduced cooperative farming models and improved livestock nutrition practices, supporting long-term agricultural sustainability.
Participants showed strong interest in applying these techniques and continued discussions with MASHAV experts after the sessions and exploring how to integrate the knowledge into their farming practices.
